Walk-behind road rollers, as the name suggests, are road rollers supported by both hands for compaction operations. They have the advantages of convenient operation, small size, compact structure, easy transportation, large working force and high efficiency. There are walk-behind single-wheel road rollers and walk-behind double-wheel road rollers. Suitable for compaction in narrow areas where large rollers cannot enter.

At present, there are 2 categories of walk-behind single-wheel road rollers made in China:

1. The self-weight is 300 kg and above. The engine of this type of road roller is mostly diesel engine, the transmission system is belt or chain drive, the excitation force is about 1.5-2.0 tons, the whole machine is large, and a crane or loader needs to be specially equipped when the operation is transferred.

2. The self-weight is 200kg and below. The engine of this type of road roller is mostly gasoline engine, transmission system chain drive or hydraulic drive, the excitation force is about 1.2-1.5 tons, the whole machine is light and can move forward and backward. There is no need to specially equip a crane or a loader when the operation is transferred, and the upper and lower tool vehicles can be transported manually.
